What do you want to be when you grow up?

What do you want to be when you grow up? OK first I’m willing to admit that I might be too old to be asking myself this question, “Hey watch it! I’m not that old!”, but I am seriously giving this some thought. I recently had someone tell me that they wanted to talk to me and “see where my head is” about my job. Yikes, I didn’t know my head was missing and I’m always a little nervous when someone says the want to talk to me about my job.

So it’s got me thinking about what new direction I want to go in. Notice I say new direction, like I’ve actually got a direction. The question is, picking out a direction and going with it. Do I want to stay where I am or go somewhere new? Does new mean changing companies or does it just mean changing roles. Does it mean physically moving; which in my life is something I’d normally be doing about now?

I must say that I envy those people out there who know exactly what they want to do with their lives. Maybe it’s having a passion for something that drives them down a course towards a specific goal. I think my problem (ok I know I have a bunch of them!) is that there are so many things I love to do. I just haven’t figured out how to turn those things into something I can do to earn a living.

Anyone out there looking for a traveling baker who’s an amateur photographer and golfer and can set up a meeting that involves all of those things?
