Black Friday

Holy cow, is it just me or did the Holidays get here really fast this year?! I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is two days away! Christmas is 32 days away . . . for those of us who work outside the home, that means only 4 weekends. If you are like me, those weekends are already filling up. So now I need to get started on the shopping; what happened to the days when I was done by Thanksgiving? Yes, I truly used to have the bulk of my shopping done by Turkey Day, but no more, those days are long gone.

I do have to say that I am not as enthusiastic (i.e. crazy) as some of those folks who head out on Black Friday. Last year, Le Husband and I decided that there was one of those door buster deals that we just had to have. So we set the alarm for 4:00 am on Black Friday. We were up and out the door by 4:15 and at our designated Super Store by 4:30 am. On our way there we were so proud of ourselves for getting up so early and excited about the great bargain we were going to score! That is to say until we pulled into the parking lot. Our mouths hanging open, we stared in disbelief at the line of people snaking all the way around the store and probably about a thousand more people running to get in line! Our excitement quickly faded to the realization that we were literally miles away from any door buster deal and we promptly headed back home and crawled back into bed.

This year there won’t be any attempt at a door buster deal. There comes a time in your life when you realize that you simply aren’t cut out for sleeping in a parking lot. So good luck to all you Black Friday shoppers out there!
